About St. Mary Villa at Renewal House

- St. Mary Villa Child Development Center welcomes all students and is committed to offering a diverse learning environment for its students.
- St. Vincent center at 1704 Heiman Road currently serves more than 145 students and includes families from more than 25 ZIP Codes in the Middle Tennessee area. The St. Vincent location accepts students on a sliding scale tuition basis, and the new center at Renewal House will do the same.
- The St. Vincent center currently accepts, and the new center at Renewal House will accept, the Smart Steps childcare assistance program through the State of Tennessee, making it possible for families at all income levels able to afford quality childcare and early education for their children.
- New 7,400-square-foot building is designed to serve up to 75 children, infant to preschool. The center includes six classrooms, two playgrounds and a beautiful work space for staff.
- Up to 45 spaces will be designated for children of Renewal House clients. The remaining spots will be open to the Nashville community.
- St. Mary Villa at Renewal House will employ 15 new staff members.
- The center will open with 40 students; expand to 75 within the first year.
- This the first of three new centers to be built by Saint Mary Villa. One additional center will open in 2026 and a third by 2027.
- These additional St. Mary Villa Child Development Centers are funded by the Community Child Care Hub Services grant, which was awarded to St. Mary Villa by the State of Tennessee, Department of Human Services for three years and a total of $1.93 million.
- Founded in 1996, Renewal House provides specialized substance use treatment to women with children in a residential setting.
- Renewal House also provides intensive outpatient services and has 37 units of affordable housing on its campus for women in recovery and their children.
- Each year Renewal House serves over 500 women and children in all its programs combined.
- Renewal House’s primary goals are to help women become sober, improve their parenting skills, identify a vocation, find housing and focus on eliminating barriers that prevent women from becoming productive community citizens.
- Renewal House was able to jumpstart this capital project with significant gifts from the community and they are grateful for that support.
The expected opening date for St. Mary Villa at Renewal House is Fall 2025.

About St. Mary Villa
Our Child Development Center provides licensed, “3 Star” rated (the highest rating awarded by the State of Tennessee) Full-Time Child Care from 6AM to 6PM, Monday through Friday and daily After-School Care.
Our formalized approach to child development is centered around educational “play” in a nurturing environment. We tailor programs according to each child’s needs, based on evaluation and strategic planning activities.
Our school is supported by parent fees, United Way, the Catholic Diocese and contributions from foundations, firms and friends.

St. Mary Villa has been caring for children for over 150 years, starting as an orphanage in the mid 1800s, in response to family and social disruption following the American Civil War.
